Humanizing Tech

Thanks for this Alyssa.

Thanks for this Alyssa. We at piksel.com have been live streaming faith sermons for a decade. We do it for hundreds of churches every week and on holidays like Easter and Christmas/New Years to the total of about 50,000 per year. We’ve done it all and seen it all when it comes to live streaming over the internet. Facebook has opened it up a bit for the small, cash-strapped churches, but the mid-tier and big 10,000 seat churches still require hardware encoders, an Akamai CDN to handle the concurrent viewers and bandwidth, and custom analytics to track how the event went. Facebook has very real quality considerations, with streams freezing, no HD quality, and stuttering. We live streamed Obama recently while Facebook did the same. Lets just say the latter wasn’t a very good experience when the stream stalled during a really important pat of the event.
